MEET THE INSTRUCTORS OF CAMPEÃO UNITED JIU-JITSU

Our highly decorated, certified coaching staff are not only accomplished practitioners themselves, but they are also knowledgeable mentors who provide valuable insights into the techniques, strategies, and philosophy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and what it means to be a champion on the mats and in life.

Master Leão Teixeira

One of the founding members of Gracie Barra as well as the IBJJF, Master Leão Teixeira is a legend in the jiu-jitsu world, his jiu-jitsu journey began in the 1970's and was promoted to black belt in 1986. In 2024 he was awarded his 8th Degree Coral Belt at the World Jiu-Jitsu Convention joining a small list of recognized Red White Coral Belts.

Having devoted his career to both kids jiu-jitsu and creating the next generation of amazing jiu-jitsu athletes, Master Teixeira has helped develop countless champions and well know jiu-jitsu stars including Hélio “Soneca” Moreira, Ralph Gracie, Marcio Feitosa, Rafael Correia “Gordinho”, Flávio Almeida “Cachorrinho”, Rolles Gracie Jr., Igor Gracie and Marco Joca “Piu-Piu" to name just a few.

Master Teixeira believes the core of our mission should be to create a culture within our school that focuses on "Educating and Training our students with Determination, Respect and Discipline."

Professor Jason Evangelista

Professor Evangelista is a formidable presence in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Under the tutelage of the legendary Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, he earned his black belt in 2008 and eventually ascended to the esteemed rank of 3rd-degree black belt. His passion for BJJ extends to competition, where he has proven himself as a multiple-time IBJJF champion; Notably earnig a gold medal at the 2008 Pan American Championships and secured medals in the 2009 and 2010 tournaments, showcasing his prowess on the mat.

Beyond his personal achievements, Professor Evangelista finds fulfillment in passing on his knowledge and skills, particularly to his children.Through his dual roles as a firefighter and BJJ practitioner, Professor Evangelista embodies the qualities of leadership, dedication, and service, leaving a lasting impact on both the fire service and the martial arts community.

professor Peter Beerman

Having trained martial arts since he was a child, Peter currently is 1st degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Campeão United and he has spent the last two decades competing and honing his craft while also pursuing advanced Judo and Sambo. Profesor Beerman values the philosophical side of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu because it has instilled in him a profound sense of humility and perseverance. He believes that the true essence of Jiu-Jitsu lies in its ability to foster personal growth, resilience, and mental fortitude.

He enjoys sharing his knowledge with students all over the globe, and he encourages them to embrace jiu-jitsu’s philosophy of respect, discipline, and self-improvement. Peter believes that this mindset creates a supportive learning environment where students can display their true potential and flourish in jiu-jitsu and in life..

Professor Dylan Miller

Professor Dylan Miller is a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Army infantry. He is a 2nd degree black belt under Campeão United who brings a passion and attitude that’s unrivaled.

Dylan began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2007 and received his black belt in 2019 and participated in numerous tournaments throughout America & Europe while serving his country.

Dylan is not only passionate about teaching Jiu-Jitsu, but his passion extends to helping his students OFF the mats as well. When he’s not instructing or mentoring, Dylan can be found snowboarding and traveling.

Professor Jason Brake

Professor Jason Brake is not only a seasoned martial artist with more than four decades of experience but also a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and a faithful Christian. With a remarkable journey spanning over 40 years, he holds a prestigious 7th-degree black belt in Isshinryu Karate and is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt accredited by the Campeão United Jiu-Jitsu Association.

In addition to his martial arts expertise, Professor Brake has earned instructor certifications in the U.S. Army Modern Combatives program, showcasing his commitment to both martial arts and self-defense. His dedication extends to the world of Muay Thai Kickboxing, where he holds instructor certifications as well. Professor Brake’s multifaceted journey, encompassing martial arts, family, faith, and service to his country, defines him as a remarkable individual and a true inspiration to those who know him.

Professor Wesley Flynn

A certified black belt instructor under Campeão United Jiu-Jitsu, Professor Wes is a Georgia native with over 20 years of grappling experience. He began his journey at Model Middle School in Rome, GA where he started wrestling, from there his love for grappling continued at Model High School. His transition to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was in 2012,. Marrying his past with his future, Wes undertook the task of teaching wrestling for BJJ when he was just a blue belt and by the time he earned his purple belt, Wes was coaching jiu-jitsu every chance he got! He is a gentle and kind instructor who believes in everyone’s abilities on the mats, and the kids love his classes!

PRofessor jeff cummings

3rd Degree Black Belt Professor Jeffrey Cummings is a decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor and passionate coach with a track record of success at every belt level. His competitive journey reflects his relentless dedication to the art and sport of Jiu-Jitsu having won ADCC trials and multiple IBJJF competitions with victories over multiple world medalists, and consistent wins in high-level super fights.

Beyond competition, Professor Jeffrey is deeply committed to teaching. He especially enjoys working with kids, finding joy in helping young students grow—both on the mats and in life—as they become stronger, more confident versions of themselves.

Campeau Sponsored Athlete, Professor Wallisson Oliveira is the 2024 IBJJF World Champion and currently holds the No. 1 spot at medium heavyweight in the IBJJF No-gi world rankings and 3rd in Gi at the 2025 IBJJF World Champions. With 14 years of dedication to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wallisson has built a reputation not only as a fierce competitor but also as a passionate and skilled instructor. He began teaching both kids and adults in Brazil as a purple belt and has continued to inspire students with his technical knowledge, energy, and love for the sport. Born and raised in Santa Luiza, Bahia, he proudly represents his roots every time he steps onto the mat.

Outside of competition, Wallisson is known for his outgoing personality and genuine desire to help others grow through Jiu-Jitsu. He believes in the transformative power of the sport and is committed to helping people of all ages experience the same life-changing benefits he has.

1st Degree Black Belt Professor Kevin Purdy. With a journey that began in 1998, Kevin has spent over two decades immersed in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, both as a dedicated practitioner and as a passionate instructor training under some of the most respected and accomplished names in the sport. This mentorship has helped shape his precise, methodical approach to Jiu-Jitsu and his ability to communicate complex techniques with clarity and purpose.

Kevin’s philosophy is simple but powerful: “Consistency breeds champions.” It’s a mindset he instills in every student who steps onto the mats. Whether he’s teaching a beginner their first sweep or refining a competitor’s game plan, Kevin leads by example—with discipline, humility, and deep technical knowledge.

More than just a coach, Kevin is a mentor and motivator, known for his calm presence, sharp eye for detail, and unwavering commitment to helping others grow.

A decorated athlete with a lifelong passion for grappling, Kevin is a former wrestling state champion, high school All-American, and Division 1 wrestler for the University of Northern Iowa. After transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he made a name for himself with standout performances—becoming a 5x PGF Veteran, a finalist and team champion in Season 3, and the first-ever Jiu- Jitsu Battle Royale Champion. He’s also collected submission wins over multiple top ranked black belts.

But for Coach Kevin, nothing compares to coaching. He finds real fulfillment in helping others grow—whether it’s sharpening a competitor for the big stage or building someone’s confidence on day one. With a sharp eye for detail and a heart for his students, he’s proud to be part of their journey on and off the mats.

When he’s not coaching or cornering fighters, you can usually find him kicking back with his dog—his loyal sidekick and favorite training partner for life outside the gym.

Coach gabriel oliviera

Campeão Sponsored Athlete, Coach Gabriel hails from from the tropical island of Florianópolis, Brazil where he began his martial arts journey at age 10 with Judo. While it wasn’t his true passion, it sparked a love for grappling. At 15, after some convincing from friends, he reluctantly joined a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class—and everything changed.

What began with frustration quickly turned into obsession. Over the next decade, Gabriel climbed the ranks from white belt to black belt, fueled by discipline, perseverance, and a deep passion for the art he has earned titles across Brazil, America, and Europe, including IBJJF Opens, CBJJE Worlds, AJP Grand Prix & Brazilian NAtionals, Pan Ams, and the Austrian National Titles

When he’s not teaching or competing, you’ll find him creating art or gaming. Creative, competitive, and approachable, Gabriel brings both skill and soul to the Campeão United Jiu-Jitsu family.

Coach Giancarlo Gonzalez

Coach Giancarlo Gonzalez, known as "Coach G" to the Campeão United Jiu-Jitsu students is an amazing instructor who focuses on self defense first in every lesson. A NASM-CPT, Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Coach (MMACC), Calisthenics Specialist, with 10+ years of combined experience in the fitness, martial arts and wellness related fields, and is a wealth of knowledge for our students to tap into.

Junior Leadership Team

In addition to our amazing group of dedicated coaches, our Junior Coaching Leadership team provides added support and coaching to our Champs Youth Jiu-Jitsu Programs.

This group embodies the 12 Characteristics of a Champion that our life skills program teaches all the students training with us.
