Professor Jason Evangelista

Professor Jason Evangelista has dedicated over 20 years of his life to firefighting, rising to the rank of Captain within the department. His commitment to excellence led him to graduate from the prestigious Georgia Smoke Divers Program, widely recognized as the toughest firefighting program in the country. This rigorous training has equipped him with the skills and resilience needed to face even the most challenging situations with bravery and proficiency.

In addition to his illustrious firefighting career, Professor Evangelista is a formidable presence in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Under the tutelage of the legendary Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, he earned his black belt in 2008 and eventually ascended to the esteemed rank of 3rd-degree black belt. Professor Evangelista's passion for BJJ extends to competition, where he has proven himself as a multiple-time IBJJF champion. Notably, he clinched the gold medal at the 2008 Pan American Championships and secured medals in the 2009 and 2010 editions, showcasing his prowess on the mat.

Beyond his personal achievements, Professor Evangelista finds fulfillment in passing on his knowledge and skills, particularly to his children. As a devoted teacher, he instills not only the techniques of BJJ but also the values of discipline, perseverance, and respect. Through his dual roles as a firefighter and BJJ practitioner, Professor Evangelista embodies the qualities of leadership, dedication, and service, leaving a lasting impact on both the fire service and the martial arts community.
